The Lord Opens the Doors

The Lord Opens the Doors

We have had a wonderful few months here at Northeast.  The Lord has been moving in the hearts of His people to follow Him in Baptism, joining other brothers and sisters in opportunities for discipleship and fellowship.  One of the greatest blessings has been to send a team of five from Northeast to the continent of Africa to share the Gospel with those who have never heard.

In the process of preparing the team that was to go some expressed the desire to go on such a trip but didn’t sense the Lord opening the door for them to go.  Be reminded of Paul and Timothy’s situation in Acts 16:4-11, “Now while they (Paul & Timothy) were passing through the cities, they were delivering the decrees which had been decided upon by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem, for them to observe. 5 So the churches were being strengthened in the faith, and were increasing in number daily. 6 They passed through the Phrygian and Galatian region, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia; 7 and after they came to Mysia, they were trying to go into Bithynia, and the Spirit of Jesus did not permit them; 8 and passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. 9  A vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing and appealing to him, and saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." 10 When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. 11 So putting out to sea from Troas, we ran a straight course to Samothrace, and on the day following to Neapolis.”

The fact was Paul desired to go certain places but the Lord had other plans.  We might not be able to go and reach others we would desire to, but we need to be faithful where the Lord has planted us. We must be obedient to the first mandate “to go make disciples”, but we must not get discouraged when someone we want to reach does not respond. We got to “Keep on keeping on!”

The Lord opens the doors, we are to be obedient to walk through them.  Let the Lord take care of the rest. 1 Cor 3:6-9 says, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. 7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. 9 For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.”

God Bless,

Brother Joey
