New Life in Christ
A New Year many times means a new start. Have you ever had a problem with your computer where it locks up on you and you have no other choice to “reboot” it? Though it is frustrating that you have lost all the work you have invested before your computer ceased, it is good to know you can start over.
As we come into the New Year you may be looking for a new start in one way shape or form. I have found an opportunity to start anew when it comes to a relationship with a family member. Much of the difficulties this other family member and I have experienced have accumulated over the years and we both agreed that we needed to start over. The ministry of reconciliation is difficult but God wants us to work towards reconciliation. A new start may mean a new life.
It has been so wonderful to see those who have been sharing with us the new start in their lives as they have been baptized here at Northeast. Baptism symbolizes the inward change that has taken place within the believer. We are able to identify with them as they identify with Christ by dying to self and living for Christ.
Romans 6:4 says, Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. We have the privilege in Christ to wake up with every fresh new day to let Him live this day through us. I pray Christ has the freedom to have more of His way my life today than He had in it yesterday. Lord help me to see others as You do, handle situations as You would, and guide me to experience the “newness of life” you intended me to experience.
