What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord. It was a glorious Sunday worship here at Northeast.
Well, we are one week into 2018. The New Year always brings thought of “new” stuff: New habits, new ideas new beginnings. Our message today from Pastor Joey was “New Things Have Come.” With New Year’s resolutions, we have to take old habits captive in order to make new changes. Sometimes we have to take thoughts captive – things slip into our mind – where did that thought come from? Now as Christians, being in Christ, we have the power to rebuke those thoughts. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away and new things have come.” We become a new creation. The “old us” is gone and the “new us” has come into being. Satan loves to remind us of our past; those are thoughts we can now cast out. We have a future of eternity. Satan likes to point out our troubles and trials, but we know God is there with us every stop of the way. This is just one of the promises we have with the new life in God. Think of the freedoms you now have in this new life in God: Freedom from sin; freedom from death; freedom to live life fully. This new life we have impacts us in many ways, through our thoughts, our actions, our activities and through our purpose. Just remember, when Satan reminds you of how your past was, you can remind him what his future will be. Are you able to say you have the freedom to experience life fully in God? He has room for you.
