All is New
All Things New
As we enter into a new year, I am reminded of many passages in the Bible that speak of our new life in Christ. Romans 6:4 says, “we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” This is the life Jesus spoke of in John 3:16, life that is eternal and present. Life with our Heavenly Father. A life requiring one to be born again in order to have. This new life comes only through Jesus Christ.
In 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 the Bible further describes this new life as impacting our thoughts, actions, activities and purpose for having such a life. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
Our purpose for having this New Life is to appeal to others to be reconciled to God just as we have been reconciled to Him, having become His children. This purpose is only carried out in our lives because Christ is working in us, helping us to both will and to do that which He desires. It takes a renewing of our minds, even on a daily and moment by moment basis. As Romans 12 speaks of a transformation must take place and a constant yielding to Christ in order for His will to be accomplished.
It is my prayer and desire that I walk in this newness of life throughout this new year, allowing Christ to make His appeal to the world through me. Will you do the same?
God be with you and Christ be in you.
