What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord.  It was a glorious Sunday worship here at Northeast. The mothers in our congregation were called up and asked to help lead us into worship with a beautiful song.

Happy Mother’s Day!  It was a glorious sunny Sunday.  Many times, our mothers were the faithful ones in our lives, and often the ones faithful to the Lord.  Think for a moment: what if our mothers threw in the towel and gave up?  Where would we be?  Many homes are held together by single mothers.  Pastor Joey spoke from 1 Corinthians 15:58: My brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing your toil is not in vain in the Lord.  Steadfast and immovable does not mean to be stubborn, but to faithfully continue on in Christ.  We can be stubborn when the Lord leads, but we are to listen and obey His voice.  Sometimes it would be easiest if God’s voice was a big booming voice, but it isn’t.  He wants us to listen carefully; to discern when He is calling us.  It’s hard to filter out the “noise” of the world to hear His still, quiet voice.  A motherly example from the Bible of being steadfast is Hannah.  Hannah had longed to be a mother, fervently praying for a son.  In His time, God answered her prayers.  Her steadfastness was rewarded in the child, Samuel.  As the story goes Hannah was faithful in her promise and dedicated Samuel back to the Lord. Samuel was used by God for great things, all because of his mother’s steadfast spirit.  God calls us to be steadfast like Hannah, praying fervently and listening, to be used by God.  He is waiting for you to call on Him today.
