What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord. It was a glorious Sunday worship here at Northeast. Our Advent theme today was “Love”.
“For God so loved the world…” John 3:16. You probably know the rest of this verse, but do you know the next few? “For God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but to save it.” (John 3:17). God manifested Himself to the world in the form of love that the world had never seen before. Fully human, but also fully God. Those who believe in Him, the Son of God, are not condemned, but there is condemnation for those who don’t believe. The verdict outcome for believers is positive, but for the unbeliever the verdict is not good. Jesus came as a light into this dark, sinful world. Those who love the darkness despise the Light, and likewise, those who love the Light despise the darkness. Since the beginning of time, God has declared His love for mankind. Even though we were a sinful, stubborn people. He loved us and showed us His love through Jesus and His plan of salvation (Romans 5:8). Jesus was willing to die for us and save us from an eternity in Hell. Go back to the opening sentence, “For God so loved me that He gave His only Son, so that if I believe on Him, I will have eternal life.” Can you say this? Do you have this eternal hope? It’s not too late. There is Good News!
