Compel Them to Come In
Jesus told a parable about a man who put on a big dinner. He invited many people to come, but everyone he invited had an excuse as to why they could not come. He became angry. In Luke 14:16-23 it reads “He said to his slave, 'Go out at once into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor and crippled and blind and lame.' And the slave said, 'Master, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.' And the master said to the slave, 'Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled.”
This is our call as Christians, we are to go and compel all to come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus is the master of the dinner. He wants His house to be filled. God has placed us in so many people’s lives so that He can reach out through us. He will do the reaching if we will let Him. We must not allow our fears and sense of inadequacy to hinder us. That is why He has placed us together in the same church. We get encouragement and guidance from each other to be the instruments God has created us to be. God is using us to sharpen each other.
Galatians 6:10 reads “So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.” I encourage you to get involved in the ministries going on at Northeast to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord. Allow Him to use other brothers and sisters in Christ to help you to reach out to others to compel them to come in.
We have an opportunity to do this very thing on the 1st Saturday in October. Northeast will be hosting a block party to reach out to our neighbors in the blocks around us. Ask Christ to show you how He wants you to get involved.
