Remaining in the Vine
A line from the choir’s opening song reminds us of one of God’s promises: You might as well get thee behind me Satan, you cannot prevail, because Jesus never fails. What a beautiful thought and wonderful reminder of His blessings for us.
We celebrated with VBS this week: Submerged in Jesus.
We had great music this morning. Our call to worship was “Majesty, worship His Majesty.” What a joy it is to worship His Majesty, King Jesus.
Bro. Joey led us in a message from John 15:7. He spoke on Remaining in the Vine. He opened with John 14:26, where Jesus gives us another promise, the promise of the Holy Spirit. Some texts read “Counselor” or “Advocate.” I personally like the translations that say, “I will send you a Helper, the Holy Spirit.” John 15:7 calls us to remain in the Vine, Jesus, and He will supply our needs. “If you remain in Me, and My words remain in you, ask whatever it is you wish and it will be given to you.” Next we went to John `12:46-50 and see another promise. Jesus promises that He came to bring us light in a dark world. His first appearance in the world was to bring grace to a fallen world through His salvation. He also talks of the time when he will return and we will be judged, but He is not the one who will judge. He only came to bring the Father’s message. Seems we were reminded of many promises in worship this morning, both through song and sermon. Are you resting on those promises? Have you asked for the grace that only Jesus can supply? If not, there is still time this side of Heaven to ask for that promise, and there is no need to wait.
