What's new in the church library...
ESTHER - A WOMAN of STRENGTH and DIGNITY book by Charles Swindoll - Everyone loves a transformation story. Rags to riches. Plain to beautiful. Weak to strong. Esther's story is that, but it is much more. It is a thought-provoking study of God's invisible hand, writing silently and unseen across the pages of human history. Perhaps most of all, Esther's story is the account of godly attributes like courage, dignity, wisdom, and strength - attributes that blocked an evil plot, overthrew an arrogant killer, and replaced terror with joy in thousands of Jewish homes.
ESTHER - A WOMAN of STRENGTH and DIGNITY: A STUDY of ESTHER by Charles Swindoll - Same story, but on 12 audio CDs!
ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING by John MacArthur - Stress has become a part of daily life. We worry about our jobs, our relationships, our families and everything in between. While there's no lack of remedies for anxiety - from psychology to medications - no solution seems to offer true peace of mind. Peace is possible; it's a divine mandate. Includes a guide for personal and group study - discovery questions, suggestions for prayer, and activities designed to connect life-changing truths with everyday living.
CHRISTIANS, POLITICS, and the CROSS by Erwin W. Lutzer - We are living in a time when we desperately need to engage our culture with the only message that has any hope of transforming it. Yet, many Christians have pushed aside the cross in order to fight the world on its own terms and with its own strategies. Instead, Pastor Lutzer says, we must stand on biblical ground. This fight is not one against our fellow Americans, it's "against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." Let us not retreat or become silent, but let us remember where our true allegiance lies.
GUIDE TO DINOSAURS by Institute for Creation Research - Dinosaurs were amazing creatures. From the time their bones were unearthed, the story of these unusual beasts has captivated people of all ages. We are learning a lot about them, but there are still many questions. When, where, and how did dinosaurs live? How did they go extinct? What does the fossil evidence tell us about them?
THE LEAST of THESE: A True Story of Sacrifice and Forgiveness - DVD - Universal Pictures As the social fabric of life in rural India disintegrates in the late 1990s, journalist Manav Banerjee moves with his pregnant wife to the State of Orissa in hope of a better life and the promise of a lucrative career. When speculation mounts that local Australia missionary Graham Staines is illegally proselytizing leprosy patients, Manav agrees to investigate undercover for the newspaper. What he finds s a series of revelations that are difficult to fathom and even harder to explain, and Manav is forced to make a choice between his own ambition and the truth. In the end, his actions spark a tragic event that is felt around the world. Based on a true story and shot in India - beautifully illustrates the power of love, hope, and forgiveness to overcome hate.
