Slow Growth

“A watched pot never boils.”  I used to wonder what people meant by that statement.  We would like to see many things take place A.S.A.P.  Much of the time that thinking makes its way into Church life.  We would like to see super growth, preferably now!  We must keep in mind the church is Christ’s, not ours.  Remember the church is made up of people, specifically people whom God is working on and working through.

The church is made up of people of different ages and stages of spiritual growth.  John writes concerning these stages of spiritual growth in 1John 2:12-14.  He says, “I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name’s sake.  13 I am writing to you, father, because you know Him who has been from the...

What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord. It was a glorious Sunday worship here at Northeast.  An Immortal, Invisible God, that’s who we serve.

Pastor Joey’s message was titled:  Love:  Natural or Spiritual.  We compared and contrasted the Natural and Spiritual Man.  Our text started at 1 Corinthians 3:1-3.  The Spiritual Man is drawn to God, whereas the Natural Man is not.  Paul tells the church of Corinth that he could not speak to them as spiritual men, but men of the flesh.  He said he gave them the milk of the word, not solid food, because they were not mature enough, not ready to hear his message as spiritual men.  There was jealousy and strife between them and they were walking as worldly men.  The Spiritual Man is saved through the grace of the Spirit of God, while t...

What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord. It was a glorious Sunday worship here at Northeast.  We were blessed with the music this morning.  Orphan, we are not orphans of God, we are sons and daughters.

Toy Soldiers…that was our sermon theme.  Pastor Joey took us through Col. 1:13-29.  Who is in command of your Christian life?  God has brought us to life.  He created us from the dust and has given us life, for us to follow His lead.  Christ is our commander. In Col. 1:13, we know that Jesus has rescued us and we become part of His kingdom, His army if you would, and have therefore been redeemed.  Christ is the image of the living God; in Him all things are created.  We had nothing to do with this creation, but all was made by and for Him.  He has a purpose for this crea...

Put On Christ, Put On Love

The call of any church, as one said it, is “to know Christ and to make Him known.”  Christ has no doubt begun a work inside of each one of us.  This work continues throughout our lives. That same Christ that saved us has called all of us together into this thing called the church. He has called you and I specifically, to the church that is located at 619 East Lincoln known better as “Northeast Baptist”.  We are mirrors reflecting Christ to each other as well as to other people.  The Christ in you is showing me things through you and your life.  Hopefully the Christ in me is unhindered to do the same for you through me. It is always the work of Christ.  He calls us into a concerted effort to join Him.

Colossians 3:14-16 expresses this c...
