Carry On

On August 13th Northeast will be celebrating 50 years as Northeast Baptist Church.  We have been blessed over the years to be use by God to carry the Gospel to the Clinton area.  One may be prompted to ask, “How did it all begin?”

Northeast Baptist Church started as an endeavor of First Baptist Church of Clinton to plant a church in the northeastern portion of Clinton.  Brothers and sisters of First Baptist responded to the Command of Jesus Christ to go preach the Gospel (Mark 16:15) and to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20).  After conducting some survey work, First Baptist sent some members out to conduct a Vacation Bible School.  This work led to more work that produced fruit.

A spiritual baton was passed on to other brothers and sisters who constituted as a chu...

It was a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord.  We had a wonderful worship service here at Northeast Baptist Church.  When you don’t move the mountain, when you don’t part the waters, when you don’t give the answers, Lord, I will trust in you.

Pastor Joey took us to Luke 22: 39-64 for worship today.  We have been following this passage leading up to Christ’s crucifixion.  Pastor told us we are not to conform to the world, no to be pressed into the worldly mold.  Here we see Jesus going out to the Mt. of Olives.  He goes away from the disciples to pray, but asks them to stay alert and pray with Him.  Jesus earnestly prays that if it’s God’s will that He didn’t have to do what was ahead, so be it, but it not, if it was God’s will for Him to fulfill the prophecies, He was wil...

What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord.  It was a glorious Sunday worship here at Northeast. The mothers in our congregation were called up and asked to help lead us into worship with a beautiful song.

Happy Mother’s Day!  It was a glorious sunny Sunday.  Many times, our mothers were the faithful ones in our lives, and often the ones faithful to the Lord.  Think for a moment: what if our mothers threw in the towel and gave up?  Where would we be?  Many homes are held together by single mothers.  Pastor Joey spoke from 1 Corinthians 15:58: My brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing your toil is not in vain in the Lord.  Steadfast and immovable does not mean to be stubborn, but to faithfully continue on in Christ.  We can be...

It was a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord.  We had a wonderful worship service here at Northeast Baptist Church.  Above all powers, above all kings…like a rose, trampled on the ground, you took the fall and thought of me above all.

Our message was titled, “The New Covenant in Christ.”  Pastor Joey took us through Luke 22: 14-23.  He spoke on the occasion of the “Lord’s Supper.” You have seen the painting by Leonardo da Vinci, titled “The Last Supper,” with Jesus sitting at the table with the Disciples.  More correctly they were probably sitting on the floor or reclining at the table.  They were celebrating the Passover, the same Passover that God instituted through Moses the eve before the Israelites prepared to escape Egypt.  They were given very specific instructions...

May is a month of celebrating accomplishments. We acknowledge the hard work of those graduating from high school, college and other educational pursuits. This celebration is mixed with excitement and uncertainty with the beginning of a new chapter in life.  With each accomplishment, one should remember the Lord and His grace.  The same Lord we sought for help and guidance in the process, is the same Lord who has brought us through.  Scripture admonishes us “not to lean on our own understanding, but to acknowledge the Lord, Jesus Christ, in all of our ways.”  As we acknowledge Him in all He has guided us through, He straightens the paths before us.

No doubt we have had others around us who have been used by the Lord to provide guidance and insight. For many the greatest i...
