What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord.  It was a glorious Sunday worship here at Northeast.  Our Advent theme today was “Love”.

“For God so loved the world…” John 3:16. You probably know the rest of this verse, but do you know the next few? “For God did not send His Son to condemn the world, but to save it.” (John 3:17).  God manifested Himself to the world in the form of love that the world had never seen before.  Fully human, but also fully God. Those who believe in Him, the Son of God, are not condemned, but there is condemnation for those who don’t believe. The verdict outcome for believers is positive, but for the unbeliever the verdict is not good.  Jesus came as a light into this dark, sinful world. What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord.  It was a glorious Sunday of worship here at Northeast.  Our theme throughout church today was “Joy”.  The choir started us with the song, “Unspeakable joy, an overflowing well, no tongue can tell. Joy rises in my soul, never lets me go.”  These words were penned by Chris Tomlin.  Happiness is fleeting, but joy is a choice that is lasting.

This Advent Sunday was Joy. The greatest news to mankind was the most joyous news of Jesus’ birth.  The Gospel of Luke brings this story to life for us.  Outside of Mary and Joseph, some of the first people to hear the message of the Good News were the shepherds.  Put yourself in their place: sitting out on a hill, in the dark, all by themselves. What a wonderful day to be in the House of the Lord.  It was a glorious Sunday worship here at Northeast.  The music today was just beautiful!

Our services today were a little different. Both our messages were brought to us in song today.  In the morning, our Adult Choir and Youth brought a Christmas Cantata for the message: Breath of Heaven.  It was very moving, as it told the Christmas Story though they eyes of Mary and Joseph, and looking back to the scriptures of Isaiah, who foretold the Messiah’s coming. In the evening service, our Children’s Choir group brought the message with their Christmas program, A Tree Lot Christmas.  It took a group of children and the “Pay it Forward” concept to change the heart of an old curmudgeon, who had lost his love for Christmas due to life’s...
