The Lord Opens the Doors

We have had a wonderful few months here at Northeast.  The Lord has been moving in the hearts of His people to follow Him in Baptism, joining other brothers and sisters in opportunities for discipleship and fellowship.  One of the greatest blessings has been to send a team of five from Northeast to the continent of Africa to share the Gospel with those who have never heard.

In the process of preparing the team that was to go some expressed the desire to go on such a trip but didn’t sense the Lord opening the door for them to go.  Be reminded of Paul and Timothy’s situation in Acts 16:4-11, “Now while they (Paul & Timothy) were passing through the cities, they were delivering the decrees which had been decided upon by the apostles and elders who were in Jeru...

Commissioned to Do the Commission

We have been blessed with the opportunity to send five missionaries out from Northeast Baptist.  These five will be taking the Gospel to people in Africa who have not heard the message of the Gospel, of the Creator sending His son into a world separated from Him due to sin.  This Creator took on flesh, being both fully God and fully man, he became the bridge over the great chasm.  He demonstrated His love by dying for our sin, and He razed from the dead to prove that mankind can have access to God.

Matt 28:18-20 says, “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy S...

The Mission Book

The greatest missionary according to the Bible was God Himself, through Christ.  John 3:16 expresses it this way, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”  God took the initiative to plan for salvation of mankind even before man sinned in Genesis 3.  This plan was before the foundations of the earth were laid.  God himself presented the good news, “The Gospel” in Genesis 3:15.  The Bible is all about how God unfolds His mission to bring salvation to the world.

I grew up with this saying, “A church without missions is a church without a mission.”  The Lord has been bringing Northeast along in our mission awareness and involvement.  He has placed the church b...

As we venture into this Christmas Season we are no doubt aware of the brokenness of the world that surrounds us. We see the bitterness and hostility that exists between neighbors, communities and the nation. We see broken relationships and unforgiving hearts. The phrase comes to mind, “As goes the family, so goes a nation.”  The people of Israel were in a situation longing for hope.  This can be seen in Luke 2:25-32.

“And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the...

“If we pause to think, we’ll have cause to thank!”  When I heard this quote it really hit me that I get so busy, even with ministry, that I overlook that which I should be thankful for.  That neglect lead to overlooking those I am thankful towards.  Paul reminds us that we should always live a life of thanksgiving.    In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 it says, “…in everything give thanks; for this God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

I am thankful for those who volunteer to take up responsibilities around the church which enable the church to function; those who teach Sundays and throughout the week, ministering to children, youth and adults;  those who serve in the nursery so others can be ministered to; those who pick weeds and do the yard work (mowing); those who pick...

Back to School

Here we go once again.  School is back in session and we are going to be back in session for the “Digging Deeper” Bible Study.  We will be starting back up Monday, September 9th at 6pm.  “Digging Deeper” is a weekly Bible study held on Monday’s 6pm-8pm. We approach this study of the Bible as if one were in a college or seminary class.

We will be doing a quick overview of Genesis 1-11 in our first session in case you were not able to be a part of last semester’s study.  The following week we will pick up with Genesis 12.  We want to help those who want to know the Bible and are committed to go deeper.

Paul admonished Timothy to allow the wisdom that came from his knowledge of the Bible to give direction in his life.  Paul says it this way in 2 Tim 3:14-...

This summer has been a busy summer, and there is still more to come!

I want to thank everyone who helped out with Vacation Bible School.  Between children to adults we had excellent attendance.  Or VBS offering was for the Henry County Rescue Mission and over $200 was raised.  There were a couple of students who made decisions for Christ during the week.  Keep them in prayer as they are being disciple.

Please keep our other endeavors for outreach to the Clinton community as Praise Camp will be going on August 6th-9th. Pray for Jeff, Amanda, and the Youth who are leading Praise Camp that they will have the energy, strength, and patience to disciple the children attending.

Keep Seeds of Faith in prayer as they are in the process of moving items and setting up for class...

This time of year some are planting gardens.  This is all being done with anticipation that there will be some sort of outcome.  We plant flower bulbs with the desire to see the flowers they produce in their time.  We plant crops with the expectation there will be a harvest in proper time.

As Christians we are to be involved in an endeavor much the same as planting a garden.  We are supposed to be busy sowing spiritual seeds by sharing Christ with those the Lord has placed in our lives.  Some of them have hearts that just need a little prompting to seek Christ.  Others have some rocks that need to be removed to make way for the seed of God’s truth to take root.  Others have so many cares and concerns that distract them from experiencing the goodness of God’s presence.  Regard...

Giving Back

I remember when my children were younger, in their preschool and early school years, they would be trying to make something for my birthday or Father’s Day and inevitably they would put together something from the resources that belonged to me.  They would give their gift to me with words such as, “Look what I made for you!”  And that’s where it stopped.  They didn’t go on to say, “Look at what I made for you using your stuff.  By the way I hope you weren’t using that!”

We hear from the scripture that the cattle on a thousand hills belong to the Lord.  He even owns the thousand hills.  In fact the whole earth is the Lord’s and all that it produces.  We truly cannot give Him anything that is not already His. If that’s the case, w

  Saying Grace

I remember visiting my aunt Bee’s home with my family.  At one point we sat down at the dinner table and my aunt asked my father to “say grace.”  I watched as my father bowed his head and he began to pray over the meal.   I asked my mother later, “What did aunt Bee mean by saying grace?”  Mom responded, “That’s just another way of her asking dad to pray, thanking God for the meal.” Her answer sufficed me for a while, but the phrase “Say Grace” haunted me, that is until I got to college.

I had a wonderful Greek and New Testament professor who encouraged his students to examine the meaning of words we us as Christians.  While studying other words and phrases I found myself seeking to understand the word grace.    One has described meaning of the word gra...
